Don't forget to link this page to the 'AND THEN THERE WERE NONE' page. Most everyone has linked to the 'here' page and this is not correct. Please fix this.

Joe-
I changed the color of the assignment above because I could not read the light blue. You have to remember that I'm an old lady (heehee), and my eyes don't work at night when I'm reading lots of assignments!
Check for periods, capitalization, etc. What about lines between each assignment. If you click on the box in the editor toolbar to the right of the bullet box, the line will automatically appear wherever you place the curser.

Assignment #2 (to be done in class on Wednesday, December 2)
Some examples of foreshadowing in this story include the ten little indians poem, this foreshadows the story because it is setting us up for what will happen too all the people. I think that this explains how all the people will die in the book.
Ten little Indian boys went out to dine;

One choked his little self and then there were nine.
Nine little Indian boys sat up very late;
One overslept himself and then there were eight.
Eight little Indian boys traveling in Devon;
One said he’d stay there and then there were seven.
Seven little Indian boys chopping up sticks;
One chopped himself in halves and then there were six.
Six little Indian boys playing with a hive;
A bumblebee stung one and then there were five.
Five little Indian boys going in for law,
One got in Chancery and then there were four.
Four little Indian boys going out to sea;
A red herring swallowed one and then there were three.
Three little Indian boys walking in the Zoo;
A big bear hugged one and then there were two.
Two little Indian boys sitting in the sun;
On got frizzled up and then there was one.
One little Indian boy left all alone;

He went and hanged himself and then there were none.
Another example of foreshadowing in this story is "rising she pinned a cairngorm brooch at her neck, and went down to dinner." I think this is a foreshadowing because this may be a way that someone dies in the book. The third foreshadowing is "He was going to enjoy that week." I think this might mean that it will be his last week on earth. The final foreshadowing is"Funny place to meet him... here-out of the world"

How does a mystery novel differ from a narrative?
Mystery novels keep you guessing throughout the whole story, and you do not know who is doing the mystery until the end of the story.
How might the title be a clue to the story?
I think the title might be a clue to the story because it may be a murder mystery and they are trying to find out who (?) is doing the killing of the characters throughout the story.

Joey-
Good explanations for the questions. Don't forget to

  • date each page
  • link this page to the student page - (clever how you used the picture link)
  • check sentences for run-ons
